Gyeongju after dark — three night spots
Donggung & Wolji (동궁과 월지): 09:00–22:00, last entry 21:30, ₩3,000. Palace pavilions reflected in the pond — the number-one night view in Gyeongju.
Woljeonggyo (월정교): 09:00–22:00, free. A lit wooden bridge over the stream.
Cheomseongdae (첨성대): 09:00–22:00 (November–February until 21:00), free. The 7th-century stone observatory is lit at night; seasonal light events nearby are announced by the city.
All three are within a 15-minute walk of each other, and Daereungwon also stays open until 22:00.

Where to stay — three neighborhoods
Hwangnidan-gil / old town (황리단길·황남동): first-timers, no car, nightlife, hanok guesthouses. Walk to all seven core sites and the night spots; the terminal is 15 minutes on foot. Rooms are small and weekends are crowded.
Bomun Resort (보문관광단지): families and resort hotels (Hilton, Lahan, Commodore, Sono) with lake walks. Bus 10/11 about every 20 minutes to town, or a ₩10,000+ taxi. About 20 minutes from the night spots; quieter.
Near Bulguksa (불국사 주변): temple stays and an early Seokguram. Bus 10/11 to everything else, which is far.
Do not stay next to Gyeongju Station (KTX) — it sits in a village 20 minutes out.
Our answer for most travelers: Hwangnidan-gil for one night; Bomun if there are kids or you want a pool.
